Resort Description

Holidays in Suffolk are a delight all year round. Because it’s only an hour from London, Suffolk is ideal for a short break or romantic weekend getaway in a pretty country cottage. Or perhaps you’d prefer an active family beach holiday along the Suffolk coast.

The magnificent countryside has been the inspiration of artists like Constable and Gainsborough for centuries. Suffolk is home to a number of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and it is sure to inspire artists for years to come.

The Suffolk coast offers both shingle and sand beaches, and a seaside cottage will provide the ideal base to explore the area. Perhaps you may be interested in using your holiday home to explore the nature reserves at Orford, with a trip to the amazing Havergate Island. Maybe you’d prefer a Victorian cottage near the seafront gardens at Felixstowe. The unspoilt beauty of Aldeburgh with its rich maritime history is sure to be a delight to history buffs and boaters alike. Other popular coastal areas in which to enjoy your holiday include Lowestoft, Southwold and Ipswich.

If you’d prefer a more rural holiday, renting a cottage in the Suffolk countryside will be perfect. This will allow you to explore a wide variety of Suffolk’s attractions, both coastal and inland. The Saxon treasures at Sutton Hoo are worthy of a visit, or perhaps you’d prefer to examine the mysteries of the drowned churches in Dunswich. Use your holiday cottage to walk along the heaths, or explore the sandy cliffs and take in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

If you’re a horse racing enthusiast, no trip to Suffolk would be complete without a trip to the home of racing, at Newmarket. Those who prefer a serene boating trip should head for the Suffolk side of The Broads, and enjoy its wonderful waterways.

There are as many attractions in Suffolk as there are holiday homes – from farm stays to stone cottages, self-catering beach homes or country guesthouses.
