Brighton has been a popular seaside holiday destination for many years, and you can have a look at the fabulous Royal Pavilion when you need a break from the beach.
Or perhaps you’d prefer the elegance of Eastbourne. Take a stroll down the promenade for an ice-cream or explore some of the delightful shops. Or perhaps with quieter seaside towns of Seaford, Camber or Pevensey Bay will be more to your taste.
Perhaps you’d prefer to use your holiday accommodation as a base to explore the many castles and historic houses in East Sussex. Hastings Castle and the 1066 experience are a popular option. Or visit Lewes Castle with a stop in at Anne of Cleves House. The fairytale castles of Bodiam and Herstmonceux are also popular.
Your holiday cottage in Alfriston will be a great choice for exploring the area too. Don’t forget to stop in for a cream tea in the village! Or perhaps you’d prefer to visit the smallest town in England – the town of Winchelsea.
The village of Uckfield is well-worth a visit – don’t forget to stop in for a picnic at Ashdown Forest, which was the inspiration for AA Milne’s Winnie The Pooh stories. Who knows – maybe you’ll meet the famous bear in person!
East Sussex has so much to offer the holidaymaker – whether you’re interested in the famous Battle of 1066, or you’re after antique hunting, or following the trail of a famous author. Cycling, walking, rambling and country style picnics are all available in East Sussex. Not to mention the festivals and events that occur all year round.
