Overview

A holiday in West Sussex will allow you to explore castles, stately homes, rolling countryside, coastal resorts, racecourses and much much more! Over half the county has been designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This means you will have a stunning range of both coastal and inland landscapes to enjoy.

Chichester Harbour is well-known yachting hot spot, and the nearby town of Witterings has long been a surfer’s paradise. Chichester itself offers a terrific mix of city and country, making it an ideal option for a city break with access to the delights of the country.

Or if you’d prefer a more active seaside holiday, there are a number of excellent resort towns. Popular choices include Worthing, Bognor Regis, Littlehampton and the Sussex Downs. All of these coastal towns will be a great place to hire a holiday cottage or chalet, and will allow you to make the most of the seaside activities and explore the surrounding regions.

Arundel offers the history buff a range of attractions, from the imposing castle to magnificent cathedral amongst others. Pick up your own piece of history at one of the antique stores. Perhaps you’d prefer to get in touch with nature with a visit to the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust.

The historic market towns of Midhurst and Petworth both have a number of interesting historical buildings, and it’s a perfect place to stop for an ale at one of the local pubs.

If you’d prefer a more rural retreat, the countryside of West Sussex has plenty to offer. The rolling chalk hills of the South Downs are terrific and offer a range of walks, cycle paths and rambles through both the East Hampshire and Sussex Downs Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Country parks are available in both areas, making it ideal for a family day out.
