You can also explore the area’s rich history at the galleries, and sites of historic significance. The best way to make the most of your holiday in the Yorkshire Dales is to hire a cottage, lodge or chalet and explore in your own time!

In the Northern Dales, view summer wildflowers in Arkengarthdale and Swaledale, or visit Reeth and Richmond. Wensleydale will provide stunning waterfalls, soaring fells, and towns like Leyburn and Middleham. Perhaps you’d like to sample the local produce at Hawes. Holiday accommodation in Lower Teesdale, Bishopsdale and Cloverdale are also available.

The Southern Dales offer some of England’s finest walking country. Wharfedale, Littletondale, Airedale and Ribblesdale are great places to explore. Hire a traditional stone cottage in Grassington or Kettlewell. The Three Peaks are magnificent as they tower over the market town of Ingletown. Bentham will provide great access to the Forest of Bowland, and in Skipton, you can hire a canal boat. Do a spot of fishing at the inland lake in Malhamdale.

Over in the Eastern Dales, you can experience a World Heritage Site, theme parks, and the best of local produce. The Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty offers canoeing, biking, sailing and trout fishing. Pop in at Pately Bridge, or in Bedale and Masham in Lower Wensleydale. A visit to the chic Harrogate with its upmarket shopping and galleries is popular, or perhaps you’d prefer to admire the cathedral in Ripon. The Western Dales showcases themed walks and trails, antique shopping, and traditional way of life in delightful countryside – try a white-washed cottage in Dentdale, or a farmhouse in Garsdale. Don’t forget Howgill Fells, Sedburgh, Kirby Stephen, or Kirby Lonsdale.
