Overview

Wiltshire in the Heart of England is steeped in history, and you can trace its trails through undulating hills. From the mystery of Stonehenge to the Wiltshire White Horses, and the crop circles at Pewsey, there is so much to see and do in Wiltshire.

Go fruit picking in season, or follow the White Horse Trail. Enjoy a trip to England’s premier safari park at Longleat. From farmers markets to watching boats go through the amazing Caen Hill Locks at Devizes, there will be something to keep everyone entertained, no matter whether you choose to stay at a holiday park or in a country cottage.

A holiday cottage in Amesbury would be the ideal location if you’d like to explore Stonehenge. Perhaps you’d prefer Castle Combe, which is considered by many to be the prettiest village in England, and would make a stunning choice for a cottage holiday.

Cricklade is home to the North Meadow National Nature Reserve and is near the Cotswold Water Park, making it a great location to hire a holiday home.

A holiday home in Mere would provide an ideal base to explore, as Stourhead, the White Sheet Nature Reserve and Salisbury are all within easy reach of the town.

The city of Salisbury offers great shopping and restaurants. Visit the famous Charter Market, or admire the splendour of the Salisbury Cathedral. The other major centre is Swindon, which offers a mix of the old and the new – from the fascinating history of the steam railways, to the chic shopping to be found at the Swindon Designer Outlet.

Tisbury is ideally located if you plan a trip to the Longleat Safari Park. Wilton and Shaftesbury are fairly close by, making it a great place to hire a holiday cottage and explore the region.

Other towns and villages to include on your family holiday or short break in Wiltshire include Bradford on Avon, Colne, Chippenham, Corsham, Daunton, Malmesbury, Melksham, Lacock, Troubridge, Warminster, Wootton Bassett and Westbury.
