Resort Description

With its wild moorlands, wooded river valleys, hidden creeks and magnificent tidal estuaries, South Devon in the South West of England is a beautiful holiday destination. The area is well known for its arts and crafts, historic buildings, and the wide range of activities on offer. It’s a great option no matter whether you fancy sneaking off for a romantic weekend break in a country cottage, or if you’d prefer to rent a beach bungalow for the family. Farm stays in South Devon also provide a fantastic way to escape the urban rat race.

Dartmouth has a well-deserved reputation for good food and a holiday cottage in Dartmouth would provide a perfect base from which to explore the local attractions, including the deep water harbour, Dartmouth Castle and the beautiful Boyards Cove.

Another popular seaside holiday destination is Teignmouth. Its wide beaches are particularly popular with families, and a holiday house in Teignmouth would give you the freedom to try out the many activities available for children and families.

Another good choice is Totnes. Situated next to the River Dart, it has become a showcase for the region’s arts and crafts. Experience the fun of an Elizabethan market, paddle a canoe on the River Dart or visit Totnes Castle before heading back to your holiday cottage. Totnes provides easy access to a number of beaches offering safe bathing and watersports, making it a perfect family holiday destination.

If you’d like to spend your holiday a little closer to nature, consider hiring a cottage in Dawlish Warren. The local wildlife centre is interesting, and the area offers a lovely family beach. As an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it’s a scenic delight, whether you’re exploring on foot, by bike, steam train or boat!

Other market towns to consider when planning your cottage or park holiday in South Devon include Ashburton, Bovey Tracy, Buckfastleigh, Kingsbridge, Modbury, Morehamptstead, Newton Abbot and Salcombe. Popular coastal towns to incorporate in your itinerary include Bonthan, Dissham, Holcombe, Hope Cove, Kingswear and Thurlestone.
